Film Short - Denial

So this week I shot my first ever film short, and I was delighted to land the lead role.

The name of the film short is Denial and I play the lead character Grace. It was a long day of shooting, starting at 9am and ending at 6pm without any break in-between but I loved every minute of it.

It was great working with a professional crew, and I'm so glad of the experience. I learned a lot from shooting Denial, not only about how to perfect my own acting skills, but all about the art of film making too, it was so interesting.

I also had some scenes with other actors, and it was great being able to bounce off each other and give each other advice. It was such a nice atmosphere.

I'm not sure when it will be out, but I will post the film short on the blog and add it to my showreel very soon.

Gaiety School Of Acting - Weekly Blog

Hey everyone,

So I'm still loving the One Year Part Time Acting Course in the Gaiety School Of Acting in Temple Bar.

As the weeks go on we are getting more and more focused on the art of performing and right now we are working a lot on our monologues.

Every actor will know the importance of having a good monologue, but I have learned so much more about what monologue to choose, why you choose it and exactly how to act it out.

Our teacher has been showing us one by one the best techniques to performing your monologue. From text analysis to body movement, each point is as important as the next. It feels great being directed in a monologue and everyone is excited to be perfecting their performance.

Last week we also get enjoy a little trip. We went to the Project Arts Theatre in Templebar to watch the play Ulysses.

It was great to be out our performing space and in to another to see what it really takes to be in a play. The whole class got to see first hand what it's like to perform in front of a sell out audience, and what is needed to perform in theatre.

It was really an eye-opener and everyone enjoyed it. One day we all hope to be up there performing in a sell-out show.

This week we will be going forward with our monologues and focusing on performance. Each week we continue to do the basic exercises which helps us understand our movement and our voice.

I'm really excited for my next class, each week is getting more serious and more focused on the craft. I will be updating a blog on my experience at the Gaiety School Of Acting every Monday on Miss Red.
